I have a particular view of Harley and Joker’s relationship that a lot of people don’t share, and that’s totally fine with me. But please, please do not disregard the time and effort I have put into developing their relationship this way. I'm not asking anyone to convert and see the relationship like I see it, but I am asking that everyone respects the thought I've put into it and treats it appropriately in-character.

ARKHAM GAMES.
CANON DIVERGENT. Little birds can only learn to fly if you push them over the edge. After trying and failing to singlehandedly save the Joker from his inevitable death in Arkham City, Harley has returned to supercrime even more violent and unpredictable than before; together with the Scarecrow and Arkham Knight, she's going to make sure Batman regrets not saving everyone.

SUICIDE SQUAD.
Following a particularly bad break-up with the Joker, Harley is recruited to the Suicide Squad in order to get the team into Arkham Asylum. Though the mission goes south, she is kept on as a semi-permanent member of the team. Her cheery disposition coupled with her expertise as a psychologist helps to ease the tension between other members.

BATMAN BEYOND.
After the Joker dies (for real this time), the resulting shock leaves Harley institutionalized for years in a near-catatonic state. Most write her off as a lost cause, and she isn't far from agreeing with them-- until one day a lawyer comes to tell her that her brother and his girlfriend have died in a car accident, and that Harley is listed as the next of kin for their year-old twin daughters, Delia and Dierdre. Harley has a choice: she can stay institutionalized, wasting away and waiting for her crimes to catch up with her without the cushion of a legal insanity plea, or she can go through rehab and probation to claim custody of her neices. She chooses to get out and raise her family. She hasn't looked back since.
HORROR.
Canon divergent after Harley Quinn #19. A new town, some new toys, the same old fun-loving Harley-- yeah, that all went south real quick when her jet-pack exploded and she kicked the bucket. It doesn't end there, though. Not by a long shot. Harley ends up in Hell, of course, but death doesn't put a damper on her annoyingly cheerful disposition-- before long, the big guy himself literally kicks her out for being too cute and happy and spreading the bisexual love. Once she's topside again, Harley gets to thinking: is this really what she wants to do with her life? Is she really happy with her relationships? Is she really happy being Harley Quinn? Whatever the answer is, she won't find it in Gotham City. She needs to get out of town. She needs to go on a journey and find herself. Get a clean slate, get away from all the things influencing her decisions right now. In the immortal words of many doomed protagonists, a fresh start is just what she needs...
